Iran swimmer ranks 15th worldwide

TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Iranian swimmer Mohammad Alirezaei has moved up 11 places to reach the 15th position in the recently released FINA rankings.

The 22-year-old Iranian reached the position for the first time after clocking a time of 27.95 seconds in the 50-meter breaststroke event, breaking the national record by 0.36 seconds on Friday.
Earlier, Alirezaei was in 26th place in the FINA world swimming rankings with 28.31 seconds.
Australia's Rickard Brenton came in first with 27.30 seconds.
Alirezaei gained an Olympic berth for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in Croatia after he clocked a time of 1.03.03 minutes in the 100-meter breaststroke event July 10. -
